TRT Requires Long-Term Commitment

TRT is a long-term treatment requiring regular injections, typically every week or two, depending on your plan. Consistency is essential to maintain stable testosterone levels and avoid fluctuations that could lead to fatigue or mood instability. Regular blood tests every 3 months are necessary to monitor key markers like testosterone levels, red blood cell count, and liver and cardiovascular health. Quarterly doctor consultations help track progress and ensure that adjustments are made when needed to maintain safe and effective outcomes.

Maximising TRT Effectiveness Through Lifestyle Changes

TRT is most effective when combined with healthy lifestyle habits. Exercise, particularly strength training and resistance exercises, can amplify TRT’s benefits by increasing muscle mass and functional strength.

A balanced diet rich in lean proteins, healthy fats, and vegetables supports muscle recovery and hormone regulation. Improving sleep quality can further enhance treatment outcomes. Men who integrate regular exercise, proper nutrition, and sufficient sleep often report more noticeable improvements in energy, strength, and overall well-being.

Potential Health Risks and Side Effects

TRT is safe for most men when properly monitored, but it’s important to understand and manage potential risks. Polycythaemia, or elevated red blood cell count, can increase the risk of blood clots, making regular blood tests essential. Cardiovascular monitoring is also important, as some studies have linked TRT to an increased risk of heart disease, though findings remain inconclusive (European Heart Journal).

Men undergoing TRT should also monitor their prostate health, as testosterone can aggravate pre-existing prostate conditions. Routine PSA tests help ensure any changes are detected early. In some cases, men may experience skin issues such as acne or increased oil production, particularly in the early stages of treatment. For men with sleep apnoea, TRT may exacerbate symptoms, so close monitoring is essential.

By working closely with your doctor and undergoing regular assessments, most risks can be effectively managed, ensuring long-term success with minimal complications.

Is TRT Right for You?

If you are experiencing symptoms like fatigue, low libido, mood changes, or difficulty with muscle gain, TRT may be worth exploring. Suitability for TRT is determined by our partner doctors following comprehensive blood tests and medical evaluation. Regular monitoring ensures you experience maximum benefits while minimising risks.
